Manufacturing and innovation

A stove is not sustainable only because of what it emits while running. It is also sustainable because of what it is built from, how long it lasts and whether it can be repaired and recycled. That is why we design our stoves using durable, recyclable materials and replaceable components, extending their useful life and reducing waste.

From drawing board to finished stove

1 Design

In-house engineering, model by model.

2 Prototype and testing

The prototype is built and tested until it meets the requirements of the standard. The measured values are recorded in the test report.

3 Manufacturing

Cutting, welding, painting and packaging, all done in our own factory.

4 Quality control

ISO 9001 management system, externally audited by Bureau Veritas.

Durable materials

Steel, vermiculite, cast iron and natural stone: long-lasting and replaceable.

Three-sided glass

Three panes instead of one: the flame is visible from more angles.

Clean glass

A pre-heated air curtain keeps soot off the glass.

Larger firebox

Logs up to 80 cm. You do not need to cut your wood down to size.

Double or triple combustion depending on the model. Efficiency up to 83%.

A stove is not sustainable only because of what it emits while running. It is also sustainable because of what it is built from, how long it lasts and whether it can be repaired.

DURABLE AND RECYCLABLE MATERIALS

Steel

3-5 mm body, double-walled on some models. Durable, fully recyclable and designed for a long service life.

Vermiculite

Mineral lining for the firebox. You replace the panel, not the appliance.

Cast iron

Used for grates and, on some models, doors. Durable, heat-resistant and recyclable.

Natural stone

Cladding on some models. Stores heat and releases it slowly.

Spare parts after discontinuation

Seals, glass, vermiculite panels and grates. Every model has an exploded diagram to download, so you still know which part you need years later.

Sustainability

Wood grows back; oil and gas do not. That is the difference this page is about. But sustainability goes beyond the fuel we use. It also means reducing our environmental impact and taking responsibility for the people, communities and environment connected to what we do.

Wood grows back. Oil and gas do not: what is burned there is gone for good.

Closed carbon cycle

Wood releases carbon that was already in circulation and can be taken up again by growing trees. Unlike oil and gas, responsibly sourced wood can help reduce fossil fuel use and contribute to the decarbonisation of the planet.

Heat without electricity

A wood stove needs no electricity. In a power cut it keeps heating. Gas boilers, pellet stoves and heat pumps all need power for controls, a pump or a fan.

Managed forests

Wood from managed forests comes from stands that are tended and replanted: what is taken out and what grows back belong together.

The carbon cycle

Trees lock up carbon while they grow. When the wood burns it releases that same carbon. Trees growing in their place take it up again.

Burning wood produces particulates. That is why limits exist. Ecodesign 2022 caps particulates at 40 mg/m3 and requires a seasonal space heating energy efficiency of at least 65%. Our tested range sits between 5 and 29 mg/m3. The efficiency measured in the test report is between 77 and 83%, which is a different measure from seasonal efficiency and is not directly comparable with the limit. How much finally comes out of the chimney also depends on how you burn.

What is in your hands

Logs below 20% moisture. Wet wood smokes, soots up the glass and wastes up to a third of the heat evaporating water
Light it from the top and give it plenty of air until the fire is established
Do not let the fire smoulder throttled down: a starved fire produces the most particulates
Add smaller loads more often rather than packing the firebox full

Five generations

Our history

A family business with over 100 years of history. We have been building stoves since 1952, designed and manufactured in Europe.

Five generations, one material. Before PANADERO built stoves, the family forged tools for farming. In 1952 Sebastian Panadero took over his father workshop at the age of 17, with about five people working there.

We are still a family business today, in an industry where that has become rare. We design, test and build our stoves ourselves and ship them to 36 countries.

What that means for you

A process, not a coincidence

ISO 9001 means every step of manufacturing is defined, documented and repeatable. Two stoves of the same model are built exactly the same way.

Audited from outside

We do not award the certification ourselves. Bureau Veritas audits our processes regularly and can withdraw the certificates.

Documents for every model

Data sheet, user manual, exploded diagram and installation notes are available to download. Years later you still know which part you need.

More than quality

ISO 14001 covers how we handle the environment and resources, ISO 45001 safety at work. What is certified is the factory, not the individual appliance.

Which rules apply before your stove is installed depends on where you live. What does not change is the paperwork that proves what the appliance is, and we supply it with every model in the catalogue.
